Preliminary planning is now underway for a new main library building on campus, generating new optimism and excitement about the future of Louisiana State University. Currently, a nationally prominent firm, brightspot, is leading the way along with a team of architects, estimators, and planners. Their part of the process is intended to establish the various functions of the new building, its occupants, space requirements, and projected costs. The work and collaboration required for this process are as complex as they are daunting, and it all needs to be completed by March 1, 2023.
If the prospect of a new library building wasn’t enough to motivate us to work hard and well, we’d be in the wrong business. We envision a building that is equal to the task of enabling LSU students to prepare for their lives and careers in the future and helping faculty do their best work as world-class creators and innovators. With that as a starting point, the constraints and obstacles we face begin to look like opportunities. We are going to be so proud of what we create together.
“Creating together” can include you too! There are many ways to help shape LSU’s next library, and I invite you to contact me to find out more. We’re also planning on establishing web pages on our site where we’ll post updates on our progress. Geaux Tigers!
