LSU Libraries welcomes Christine Cloud as Instruction and Curatorial Assistant in Special Collections. She prepares and sets up materials for classes who visit Hill Memorial Library and helps the curator to process book donations and publicize new acquisitions.
Cloud says she wants students and the wider community to get excited about the rare books and manuscripts at Hill. She also wants to develop as a teacher, especially as she learns how to meaningfully connect students with book history and book arts.
“I love working at Hill,” Cloud says. “The collections are full of beautiful books and fascinating manuscripts, and I’m surrounded by other librarians who care deeply about preserving and sharing these materials.”
Cloud is a graduate student at Baylor University working toward her doctoral degree in English, and she is working on her dissertation while in Baton Rouge. She taught composition and literature classes for five years at Baylor and brought her own classes to visit Baylor’s special collections library.
Cloud is from Baton Rouge and earned B.A. degrees in English and French from LSU. She enjoys walking the LSU lakes with her husband and having conversations with friends, as well as anyone else who wants to share their story.
