The TLC reality series, “Who Do You Think You Are,” recently filmed an episode featuring famous actor Noah Wyle at Hill Memorial Library. Wyle is best known for his leading role in NBC’s hit series “ER,” and currently stars in TNT’s “The Librarians.”  Each episode of the reality show features a different celebrity, who attempts to discover information about their ancestors and family history.

Wyle made use of the Calvin Taylor and family papers, as well as the Sereno Taylor papers at Special Collections to discover information about his ancestor, Sereno Taylor. LSU Libraries’ Special Collections is well-known for family papers and its primary materials in history. During his visit, Wyle viewed a letter, poem, and diary written by Sereno Taylor. In his diaries, Taylor reflects on the Civil War and comments on his visits to wounded and sick Confederate soldiers in hospitals.

NWyle2The actor continued his search of family history at the William F. Winter Archives & History Building in Jackson, MS and the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum in Biloxi, MS. For more information on Wyle’s discoveries, tune into TLC on Sunday, March 26 at 9 pm.
