All floors of Middleton Library open for 24/7 studying for Finals

Posted in Announcements, Services

LSU0080 Students at Middleton LibraryWe are making way for a new math lab that will be built on the third floor of Middleton Library, and students are reporting difficulty studying there because of the noise. Quieter places to study are found on the opposite side of the third floor and the fourth floor, in addition to other spaces throughout the library. There are extra tables and chairs in rooms 141 and 241, and room 227 (formerly Education Resources) is now a quiet study space for graduate students. From now through the end of finals, all floors of Middleton Library will be open 24/7 for more space during the quieter hours of the day.

Several construction projects will continue to make quiet study space in Middleton Library scarce this spring semester. In January, construction for the new math lab will begin on the third floor of the library. Relocating the math lab, which is used by about 5500 students each year, will make it more centrally located on campus. Construction for a new Access Services space will also begin in January on the second floor of Middleton Library in room 241. Access Services, which includes Circulation and InterLibrary Loan, will move from the first to the second floor.

The large space on the first floor of Middleton Library will be remodeled for bigger and better quiet study space for students.
