On Wednesday, April 23, four members of the LSU Libraries staff participated in World Book Night (www.worldbooknight.org). World Book Night is a nation-wide event where over half a million free books are distributed to people who would benefit from increased reading in their lives. Special World Book Night editions are prepared by publishers, and authors forgo royalties for books produced for this event. This year’s book selection for LSU Libraries was Tobias Wolff’s This Boy’s Life: A Memoir. LSU Libraries received 20 copies of this book.
The four LSU Libraries participants were Sandra Rosa Bryant (Government Documents Library Associate), Emily Frank (Instructional Technologies/Engineering Librarian), Marty Miller (Art & Design Librarian), and Mitch Fontenot (Information Literacy/Outreach Librarian). These participants distributed copies of This Boy’s Life to appropriate persons of their choosing, including copies provided to the Carver Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, the Kids Hope USA program, the LSU Libraries Book Exchange, and a local adult literacy project.
